What is COVID and How is the Coronavirus Transmitted?
COVID is a strain of coronavirus which is part of a large family of viruses which even include the common cold and also the newest outbreak that is believed to have started in China referred to as COVID-19. It is a severe, acute, respiratory virus which spreads primarily through droplets of saliva, mucous or discharge from the nose or mouth of an infected person when they cough or sneeze.

What are the symptoms?
Most people experience mild to moderate respiratory illness and recover without requiring special treatment but some with existing medical problems of the heart, lungs or diabetes, cancer, chronic respiratory disease, smokers, obesity or older persons may require medical treatment and/or hospitalization. Most common symptoms are:

  • Fever or Chills

  • Cough

  • Loss of Taste / Smell

  • Fatigue

  • Headache

  • Nausea / Diarrhea

  • Sore throat

  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing

  • Muscle cramps & body aches

  • Congestion or runny nose

What are emergency symptoms?
If you have any of these symptoms seek immediate medical attention are:

  • Trouble breathing

  • New confusion

  • Persistent pain or pressure in the chest

  • Inability to stay awake

  • Fever > 103

  • Bluish color of lips, face or nail beds

What is quarantining & social distancing?
Quarantining is when a person who may have been exposed to a person with the virus stays at home and away from others to help prevent spread of the virus before a person knows they are sick or if they are infected with the virus - even without symptoms. Quarantine periods may vary but generally are 7-10 days. Social distancing is keeping a minimum 6' distance from the public and/or persons you do not live with.

What can I do to minimize exposure?
Wash & sanitize your hands several times a day and/or whenever you may suspect exposure. Practice social distancing and wear a mask at all times you may be around others or suspect exposure because literally anyone, anywhere can be exposed to the virus & some people with the virus do not present any symptoms.

What medicines or vitamins can I take to help prevent me from contracting COVID?
While there is no guarantee you won't get COVID you should take a high-quality Vitamin C, Zinc, Vitamin D3 and get regular Chiropractic adjustments. Our office can provide you these at a very reasonable cost. Please ask our staff or call to speak with Dr. Wright.

What should I do if I am exposed?
Get tested immediately & quarantine. Call your doctor & inform them of any potential exposure & symptoms.

How often should I get re-tested?
We recommend getting re-tested if you are having symptoms, or if you feel you may have been exposed. If you plan on traveling, getting re-tested 2-3 days before as well as after the conclusion of your trip is Strongly Advised.

How can I keep up with latest facts?
Listen to reputable people ie: as nurses, doctors, hospitals and limit internet sources to the CDC (Centers for Disease Control) and local health departments and our office will e-mail you updates. Friends mean well...but may not know facts. If you have a question or need medical assistance do not wait... CALL OUR OFFICE 888-405-9091 we are here to help you.
